Helping Older People Stay Safe, Independent and Confident at Home

Hello, I’m Timothy Lee, an Occupational Therapist with over 15 years of experience helping older people and adults with disabilities remain as safe and independent as possible within their own homes.

Throughout my career I have worked across the NHS, local government and community services, assessing people’s functional needs and recommending practical solutions that improve everyday life.

Today I continue to work as a senior healthcare leader within the NHS while providing independent Occupational Therapy assessments across Essex through OTLife.

My Experience

My career has given me the opportunity to work in a wide variety of settings, including:

  • Community rehabilitation

  • Intermediate care

  • Emergency Departments

  • Frailty services

  • Acute hospitals

  • Adult Social Care

  • Housing adaptations

  • Home assessments

  • Major home adaptations through Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs)

I have assessed hundreds of people with a wide range of conditions, helping them remain independent through practical advice, equipment and home adaptations.

Independent Home Assessments

As an Independent Occupational Therapist, I have extensive experience assessing people within their own homes.

This has included:

  • Falls prevention

  • Home safety assessments

  • Stairlift assessments

  • Wet room and level access shower recommendations

  • Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) assessments

  • Housing suitability reports

  • Manual handling assessments

  • Seating and mobility reviews

  • Equipment recommendations

  • Major and minor home adaptations

Every assessment is tailored to the individual, their home and their personal goals.

My Approach

I believe the best Occupational Therapy advice is practical, honest and independent.

I don’t sell equipment.

I don’t install stairlifts.

I don’t recommend adaptations because of commercial relationships.

My role is simply to provide clear, professional advice that helps individuals and families make informed decisions.

Sometimes the solution is a simple grab rail.

Sometimes it’s a stairlift.

Sometimes it’s changing the way everyday tasks are completed.

Every recommendation is based on what is most appropriate for the individual.

Why I Started OTLife

Over the years, many families have contacted me looking for independent advice.

They wanted someone they could trust to explain the options before making important decisions about equipment, home adaptations or future care.

OTLife was created to provide that independent professional advice.

Whether you’re worried about an elderly parent who has recently fallen, wondering if a stairlift might help, or unsure whether a home is still suitable, my aim is to give you clear guidance and practical recommendations.

Let’s Talk

If you’re concerned about your own safety at home, or you’re worried about a parent or relative, I’d be happy to discuss your situation.
